Where to Buy Used Golf Clubs? - Driving Range Heroes (2024)

Following the golf boom of last season, I wrote a post about what golfers should look for when buying used golf clubs. With the season starting back up in most of the northern hemisphere, I thought I would provide some good spots I know of for those wondering where they should buy used golf clubs. So if you’re looking for a lot of gear options, trustworthy reputations, and some basic tips, I have you covered.

Dallas Golf

We started following these guys on Instagram awhile ago and they’re a fun follow. Dallas Golf is a online as well as local brick and mortar golf store carrying anything you need for golf since 1983. They’re one of the top pre-owned club sellers and also specialize in building custom golf shafts however you want them built. Their pre-owned club sales work hand in hand with their easy to use, fast, and competitively priced club trade-in program so you can always get a good deal on some cool clubs.

Pro Clubs

Pro Clubs might be better known for their massive presence on eBay with a huge range of used gear, but they have a website too. It’s not uncommon to find everything from Tour-issued wedges to super game improvement irons to premium exotics shafts. They tend to have ALL of it and a lot of it. They’re also one of the better online club buyers if you’re looking to cash in on all your old gear in the garage.

2nd Swing Golf

2nd Swing is a company that started out of Minnesota in the mid 2000s selling used golf gear. As time went on, the business gained quite a bit of momentum and opened a total of five stores nationally selling both used and new equipment. As of 2021, they are one of the biggest online used-golf retailers. They have their own store here, and can also be found eBay. Like the other stores mentioned in this post, they also have a trade-in program for you to explore. Oh, if you happen to make it into one of their brick and mortar stores, they also offer custom fitting.

Callaway Pre-Owned

Callaway Pre-Owned is a legend in the used clubs game. Their bread and butter is obviously Callaway, but you can often find good deals on shafts as well as other brands that Callaway takes in on trades/credit. One of the nice things with “CPO” is that they regularly have killer sales or deals that make purchases well worth your while. They also tend to closeout the previous model line at great prices, so keep an eye out.

Additionally, their reputation for great customer service is really strong. Whether the club you receive doesn’t meet your expectations in terms of “how used” it is, or getting more insight on the product you’re looking to purchase, people rave about them. They’re known for doing it right and making sure their customers are satisfied. My few interactions with CPO have always been really good.

eBay

Of course, there’s always eBay. The one piece of advice I can’t stress enough is that it’s really important to know what you’re doing both on eBay and with golf clubs before buying there. As always, make sure the seller has good feedback. I tend to stay away from anyone under 98%, and even at 98%, I’m giving that feedback a thorough review. If they’re at 98% without having many transactions, forget it, I’m out. Speaking of number of transactions, chances are if the seller has a lot and good feedback, you’re in good shape. You’ll see the sellers listed above have eBay stores too. Go and check out their “feedback to transactions ratio” and you’ll see what I mean. So if someone is selling a used Epic Flash for $75 with no actual pictures, 32 transactions, and 84% feedback…run.

As I stated in my other post, be aware that counterfeit golf equipment is a very real thing. We’re talking irons, woods, and putters from pretty much every major brand. These is indeed a significant difference in production quality, so you don’t want to buy fake stuff. It’s a tough subject to get educated on, so stick to good, reputable sellers.

Final Thoughts – Where to Buy Used Golf Clubs

Are there plenty more options online to buy used golf clubs? Of course, but these are all places I’ve dealt with in the past and have had good experiences with. At the end of the day, the most important thing is to know what you’re buying and to still get equipment that is right for you. Be aware of what you’re spending your money on and don’t be afraid to ask questions.
